Nick, who was on tour in Germany with the Backstreet Boys when news of his brother’s death was released, has shared a poignant and honest tribute to his “baby brother.”

He touches on their “complicated” relationship, and makes a plea for understanding for people who struggle with addiction and mental health issues.

An official cause of death is currently unknown in this case.

“My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded,” he wrote.

“I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed. Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here.”

Aaron rose to fame as a child star with hits like I Want Candy and That’s How I Beat Shaq .

He had a triple-platinum status album in the year 2000 with Aaron’s Party (Come Get It).

He also has a number of acting credentials.

Aaron openly struggled with substance abuse and mental health, and in 2017 attended rehab after he was arrested.

In September 2022, he entered rehab for the fifth time, according to ABC News.
