Kelly Ripa shades Ryan Seacrest after his first Wheel of Fortune blunder

During a segment on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, the actress poked fun at her former co-host Ryan Seacrest after he made a spelling mistake on Wheel of Fortune.

Kelly Ripa teased her former co-host Ryan Seacrest for a mistake he made during the last episode of Wheel of Fortune.

Seacrest joined the ABC game show for their 42nd season in September of 2024, replacing Pat Sajak who finally retired in June after 43 years.

While he has carried himself with “huge swagger” because he brought the show its largest premiere week audience in five years with 9.63 million viewers, many have criticized the host and are now more focused on his first flub, including Kelly Ripa.

According to fans of the show and his former co-host, the American Idol co-host can make no errors especially not this early on. During the last episode, Seacrest the pressure seemed to have gotten to him.

Before congratulating contestant Cody Hunger on his win during the BetMGM Big Winners Tournament, Seacrest took a minute to register the victory. His co-host, Vanna White, had to step in and give a small clap to motion to Seacrest and Hunger that the puzzle was completed.

After the flub, Seacrest snapped back into host mode and said: ““That’s it. You got it! Congratulations.”

Fans flooded Reddit to comment on the mistake. One said: ““What a nightmare for the guy as he had to wait for Ryan to wake up and tell him he got the puzzle.”

The last person to tease the situation was his very own former co-host who mentioned the slip up on “Live!”

As the presenter returned to the talk show with his sister Meredith Seacrest Leach to promote their new children’s book, Ripa couldn’t help herself with asking how the game show was going.

She asked: “Tell me about ‘Wheel of Fortune’ now,” and before Seacrest responded, Ripa took her moment to shade him. “Have you learned how to spell?”

His sister then added: “We know that’s a problem.”

All in good fun, Seacrest jokingly responded: “I don’t text well. She knows that,” referring to Ripa. “But on the puzzles, I’m OK. I kind of know where we’re going with the puzzles.”

This is not the first time Ripa has teased her guest. She recently received backlash after the host seemed to criticize The Bachelorette star Jenn Tran about finding love in a super public way.
