Drew Carey is now the longest-serving host of a game show that is currently airing. The title was previously held by Wheel Of Fortune‘s Pat Sajak, but he retired earlier this month. Now people are wondering about the future of Drew’s contract on The Price Is Right. Here is what he has revealed about his time on the show and plans for the future.

Fans Love Drew Carey On The Price Is Right

The Price Is Right host sat down with TV Insider to talk about hitting a major milestone on the game show. Drew, 66, has officially been on the show for 17 years. He took on the role after Bob Barker retired in June 2007.

Barker was the host of The Price Is Right from September 4, 1972, until June 15, 2007. Drew Carey undoubtedly had big shoes to fill, but fans have loved seeing him take the role and make it his own.

“I didn’t think anyone could fill Bob’s shoes. But Drew has been wonderful,” one fan wrote on social media. “He brings so much light and love to the show!!” a second person added.

“He’s the perfect host. You can tell he really enjoys the games and meeting people,” a third fan commented. “I remember thinking in 2007 that I’d never watch it without Bob. I’ve grown to love Drew as he’s grown into the role,” another person wrote.

When Does His Contract On The Game Show End?

That being said, Drew Carey has opened up about if he plans to retire from the show any time soon. At 66 years old, many people consider retiring but, luckily for fans, Drew has no plans of doing so.

“I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day,” he told TV Insider. “I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak.”

Then, he recalled that the longest he’d ever been on a television show before was on The Drew Carey Show. He was on the show for nine years. “Once I hit 10 years here, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s the longest I’ve ever had a job in my life,” Drew said. “It’s such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can’t imagine giving it up.”

The Price Is Right host added, “I don’t like CBS to know that, but it’s going to be a few years ’til my next contract negotiation. So maybe forget I said this. I can quit anytime I want!”

While that is true, it is clear Drew Carey has no intentions of doing so. He wants his own spot in game show history.
