Ant McPartlin was all smiles as he returned to the Britain’s Got Talent stage for the first time since becoming a father – but he couldn’t resist calling out one judge for not buying his baby son a gift

Ant McPartlin has revealed that some of his Britain’s Got Talent colleagues failed to present him with a baby gift following the birth of his son.

During Monday’s visit (May 27) to the London Palladium, the Geordie duo greeted viewers back for the semi-finals of the ITV talent competition. This marked the first show the proud dad has filmed since the arrival of his son Wilder on May 14.

His supportive co-stars didn’t waste time in congratulating the 48 year old on becoming a father for the first time on the show. Turning to head judge Simon Cowell for some words of wisdom, the music mogul showered him with praise.

He enthused: “By the way, can I just say congratulations to you, Ant? Truly, I really am happy for you.” The audience burst into applause at this point, cheering his celebration on the show. Ant responded with a laugh: “Thank you, I know you are. And thank you for your lovely gift. Judges, I’m still waiting on yours” as the panel nervously shifted in their seats.”

Simon tried to rescue the conversation by noting: “It was from all of us.” To which Ant replied: “Okay, yeah but it was signed by you, not them” His co-star Declan chuckled beside him. It comes after the new dad reportedly asked Dec, also 48, to be a godfather to his son.

A source previously spilled to OK! Magazine: “Dec is obviously so excited for Ant and has already been giving him advice – mainly how to deal with sleepless nights. He can’t wait to take on the role of godfather and he’s promised to take his duties very seriously.”

The insider also shared that Ant, who was previously hitched to makeup artist Lisa Armstrong, had “always” planned on making Dec godfather to any of his own kids. In a heartfelt nod to their bond, Dec’s son Jack even carries Anthony as a middle name.

Dec, hailed by Ant as the “best friend a man could have” during his best man speech at Ant’s 2021 nuptials to Anne-Marie, is a dad to two with his spouse Ali Astall. Their brood includes four year old Isla and young Jack, who turns two come July.

Another source disclosed that Dec’s kiddos are over the moon about having a new buddy in the McPartlin-Donnelly fold, with the families eyeing up joint summer getaways to their side-by-side holiday homes in Portugal.

“Wilder will practically be like a nephew to Dec, and he and Ant are buzzing for their lads to grow up together with less than two years between Wilder and Dec’s lad Jack, they’re hoping for them to become as tight-knit as they are,” the source elaborated.

“Also, Dec’s little girl Isla loves babies and is very pleased there is another baby around. They’re planning lots of playdates and family holidays they’re all hoping to spend most of the summer in Portugal as they always do and are all excited for Wilder’s first holiday. Dec has also joked that Ant and Anne-Marie won’t need to spend a fortune on clothes, as they can have all of Jack’s hand-me-downs.”
