Howard Stern reacted to Fox News firing Tucker Carlson by claiming the TV host was just another ‘worker bee’ and a ‘fly on Rupert Murdoch’s a**.’
On Wednesday’s segment of The Howard Stern Show, the outspoken presenter said Murdoch would fire anyone who was a ‘pain in the a**’ and Tucker’s departure from the media giant was ‘a good life lesson.’
Tucker was unexpectedly kicked off Fox News on Monday and sources say billionaire Murdoch gave him the boot.
His show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, was Fox’s massive nightly hit, drawing in 3.5million viewers every night.
‘At the end of the day, you are a fly on his a******,’ Stern said. ‘You’re nothing because he’s still gonna have billions upon billions upon billions of dollars and own a giant corporation. And you know, you cannot f*** up. You can only push them so far.’

Tucker Carlson was unexpectedly fired from Fox on Monday despite bringing millions of viewers to the news outlet during his night time specials
While Tucker was a massive media personality for Fox, Stern claimed the corporation, specifically Murdoch, didn’t need him.
Stern made a comparison to his work on SiriusXM and how he was simply an insignificant pawn.
‘I know who owns SiriusXM, I know who the guy is on top… I think he owns entire states in the United States,’ Stern said.
‘He doesn’t need me. I’m here at his…service… I know at the end of the day, my man is my master and I like working at SiriusXM. So, you know, I could bust balls, blah, blah.’
‘But at the end of the day, I’m worthless. And I always have that in the back of my head.’
Stern claims to be humble in comparison to other big media personalities, including Carlson.
‘The guys like Bill O’Reilly, Tucker Carlson, the thing they forget is that they’re another brick in the wall.
‘That’s what you are. You’re a worker bee. I’m a worker bee. You know, they pay me well and everything… I don’t let it for a minute do I think I’m more important than the man who owns this place. He is my Lord and Savior.’
This isn’t the first time Stern has poked fun at Murdoch.
When Stern signed another contract to stay on SiriusXM in 2015 for an undisclosed but believed to be mega salary, he joked that he was now making more than Murdoch, who currently has a net worth of $17.4 billion.
‘I signed for $100 billion. I now own Rupert Murdoch,’ Stern said at the time, according to The Week.
He later joked in 2017 that he was going to write ‘Fox News the Musical’ to highlight the sexual assault accusations that surrounded the news outlet’s late CEO Roger Ailes and former commentator Bill O’Reilly.
‘I’ve given serious thought, no b******, to actually sitting down and writing ‘Fox News the Musical’ to the point that I’ve written an outline,’ Stern said in 2017, according to New York Daily News. ‘All bits aside, I’m really thinking of writing this thing.’

Carlson was given his own show on the network in 2016 and quickly became its most watched host, cementing his own fanbase and reputation for taking some of the most extreme, hard-right positions on cable news
Carlson joined Fox as a contributor in 2009, having previously offered his conservative opinions on CNN shows.
He was given his own show on the network in 2016 and quickly became its most watched host, cementing his own fanbase and reputation for taking some of the most extreme, hard-right positions on cable news.
His departure comes just five days after Fox settled with Dominion Voting Systems which had sued for defamation, claiming hosts like Carlson knew President Trump’s election fraud claims were untrue, but pushed them for ratings.
Dominion sued for $1.6billion and settled for $787million at the 11th hour, narrowly avoiding an embarrassing and highly-publicized trial where Carlson and other hosts would likely have been called as witnesses.
While Carlson brought in millions of views to Fox News, a series of recent controversies including the Dominion claims and his own comments about the January 6 riots led him into hotter water than even he was used to.
It’s unclear how long he had left on his contract, or whether Fox will pay severance. A 2020 report by CNN’s Brian Stelter listed his salary as $10million-a-year.
