Kenan Thompson is taking a stroll down memory lane.

In an exclusive conversation at Nintendo New York earlier this month, the longtime Saturday Night Live star, 46, opened up about items he took with him from the sets of series he previously starred in — including All That and Good Burger.

“Our original T-shirts of the logo were very special,” Thompson says of All That-themed clothing items. “I think we got backpacks too, or something else that had the logo on it.”

“We were all obsessed with that logo. It was really cool,” added the comedian, who starred in the Nickelodeon series in the 1990s.

As for Good Burger, Thompson said, “I got a couple of Good Burger hats, for sure, but it was mostly hats that they would put on all the restaurant workers. So it wasn’t my specific hat that I wore. … But it’s good to have that kind of stuff.”

Thompson has carved out a successful career for himself since then and is currently SNL‘s longest-running cast member. He joined the comedy sketch series in 2003.

Looking back at SNL‘s season 49, ahead of its 50th milestone season, Thompson reflected on how exciting the series has been of late. “It was pretty great,” the star told PEOPLE of the latest iteration. “Just top to bottom. We started with Pete [Davidson]. People forget Pete opened.”

As for others whom he thought were great hosts, Thompson said, “Kate [McKinnon] at Christmas, and then Maya [Rudolph] next to last, and Jake [Gyllenhaal] closing out.”

“[Maya] couldn’t have been more of a bullseye. If anything is defining of how we feel about Maya Rudolph these days, it was tucked into a two-minute song that she destroyed, because that’s what she does. You know what I mean?” he added of Rudolph, 51, who performed a motherhood-themed medley as she opened the show during her hosting gig.

“Not only was the idea great, but she killed it on top of it. She’s the best,” Thompson added of the Bridesmaids star.

Saturday Night Live returns in the fall.
