The Price Is Right recently returned to television with its 53rd season. However, the popular game show has been plagued by local interruptions. Fans have been taking to social media to bemoan the issue and find other ways to watch the show.

The Issue Depends On Where Viewers Live

Various issues have cause recent episodes to be cut short or be skipped entirely. These interruptions appeared to be localized, varying by state, and weren’t widespread. The issue wasn’t limited to The Price Is Right, but also impacted other daytime television shows, like soaps.

Some areas, for example, saw the show get preempted by news coverage of Hurricane Helene. Fans in New York City had seen the show interrupted by New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s indictment.

Asking for help, a user on the series’ Reddit asked that, “Where can this new episode be watched?” As they continued, “Can’t stand when they interrupt at 11am when the Noon news is an hour away.”

During the discussion, one user confirmed that the whole episode ended up being interrupted for them because of local news coverage. Fans had mixed feelings over the issue. Generally, they were a bit more understanding when the news coverage was something serious, like the hurricane. As one user put it, “We lost TPIR and the soaps due to hurricane coverage. I can’t fault them on that.”

However, less critical stories weren’t as tolerated. As one user wrote, “I absolutely hate when they preempt TPIR, ESPECIALLY when it is news that is not urgent! Special reports are for URGENT information the public needs to know immediately!”

Users Are Looking For Alternate Ways To Watch The Show

Some fans have also tried to find other ways of watching the show. One user on Reddit gave the advice that, “If you’re in NY, especially the Long Island area, The Price is Right gets broadcast on UHF (antenna) by WLNY aka TV55 during many pre-emptions.”

As the user continued, “Yes, antenna tv is still a thing and it’s free. Check your local channels and maybe you’ll be lucky.” Another user suggested that they might be able to watch the series on their YouTube TV.

As noted by Monsters & Critics, Paramount* also offers on-demand episodes, meaning users can watch the episodes on the platform. On-demand episodes can also be available on CBS.com.

This isn’t the first time The Price Is Right fans have dealt with the show being interrupted. A similar issue had been reported back in June, due to breaking news concerning the Supreme Court. Many viewers found themselves missing the first six minutes of the episode.
