Jeopardy fans desperate for show shake-up as they call one format decision ‘nonsense’
Long-time Jeopardy! viewers are pleading the game show for a shake-up to their schedule in 2025 as they call the current formatting choices ‘nonsense’
Jeopardy! fans say that they are desperate for a game show shake-up as they call the current formatting decision “nonsense.”
As normal Jeopardy! is currently on a quiet period until the show returns in September, re-runs of former episodes have been filling up the time slot. And as Jeopardy! viewers eagerly await new content, it has left some fans wondering what the future of the game show will hold. And as last year was filled with invitational tournaments starring former Jeopardy! legends, many are calling for a switch-up to the schedule and rallying for more new players to be involved in the games.
In a newly posted Reddit thread, Jeopardy! fans discussed the formatting choice with many agreeing that they are ready to see some new faces and personalities on the show. Many also posed the question as to why so many former champions would want to re-appear on the gameshow and risk the possibility of losing out.
One user wrote: “I hope they simply stop sending out invitations. Jeopardy does not need another nonsense tournament that’s just another excuse to get recognized faces back on the podiums. I’m sick of seeing Amy Schneider, Mattea Roach, etc. I just want pure Jeopardy – the normal revolving roster of people, normal games, and less tournaments. It really feels like in recent times they have undermined the show by turning it into a neverending cycle of tournaments with the same contestants over and over again.”

Another rallied in agreement and added: “Honestly as a very long time viewer, I would sort of respect a player or players who decide to decline invitations. I can’t imagine that it’s continuously fun for everyone, even those who have done really well. Not everyone “signed up” to be a career J! player, no matter what a great experience they may have had in their initial run and subsequent tournaments.”
Another fan chimed in with rumors that Jeopardy! has already taken this criticism into consideration and cut the amount of tournaments in 2025. They wrote: “There’s only 3 months of tournaments instead of 7, from what I read. Davies stated he felt 30 weeks of regular play was good enough.”
Season 41 of Jeopardy will be kicking off on September 9, 2024 and the season will run through July 25, 2025. The trivia-style game show will be lead by host Ken Jennings as he prepares for his fourth year of hosting. And this year, Jeopardy! fans will have plenty to look forward to as another season of Celebrity Jeopardy! has been renewed and a new spin-off of Pop Culture Jeopardy!
