Wheel of Fortune fans ‘unimpressed’ with Ryan Seacrest as Pat Sajak’s replacement- suggest show’s familiar faces for gig

RYAN Seacrest’s new hosting gig has been slammed by fans before he’s even started it.

After Pat Sajak retires from Wheel of Fortune in June, Ryan, 49, is taking over as host, and fans aren’t happy about it.

Ryan will start hosting the game show in September 2024.

The gig was only fitting for Ryan as he has hosted many programs – American Idol, Live With Kelly and Ryan, and his own radio show.

He will co-host with Vanna White, who is staying on the program through 2026.

Although Vanna, 67, will be a familiar face for veteran fans, others are not happy that Ryan is the one taking over for Pat, 77, after he retires.

However, WOF fans have not even seen Ryan in the role yet.

They made suggestions on who they think should host the show and the replacements are already parts of the show.

Fans want Vanna and Pat’s daughter, Maggie, who is the social media correspondent, to take over.

TV Shows Ace reported on fans not liking Ryan as the replacement.

They wanted a star who has been on the celebrity version before.

However, in the comments, fans wanted the show to stick to their roots and give Vanna her shot.

“Vanna should have taken the job and Maggie should take over for Vanna. Makes me think they are saying a woman can’t do Pats job,” one fan said.

“Vanna or Maggie would have been much much much better choices!” said another.

“I agree. I like Ryan but he does not have the personality for Wheel. I, also, believe Maggie & Vanna would be the best choice,” a third added.

Wheel of Fortune Host Timeline

Although Pat and Vanna have been a staple on the game show for decades, there have been other hosts

Chuck Woolery was the host from 1975 to 1981

He co-hosted alongside Susan Stafford (1975 to 1982)

Vanna White then stepped in as hostess in 1982 and has been ever since

After a contract and salary dispute, the show got rid of Chuck and brought in Pat in 1982

Pat hosted with Susan for one season

He then left the game show in 1989 to host a late-night talk show for CBS

For five months, NFL player Rolf Benirschke took his place

In July 1989, Bob Goen hosted the show on CBS

He hosted for a year and a half until the show was canceled in 1991

The show was then moved to ABC with Pat and Vanna hosting for the foreseeable future

In 2023, Pat announced his retirement and Ryan Seacrest as quickly named as his replacement

“Should have picked Vanna as host and Maggie to turn the letters,” one last fan suggested.

Other fans said they won’t watch after 41 seasons because they aren’t fans of Ryan.

Fans also suggested another celebrity should take over hosting duties.

On a Reddit thread, WOF watchers suggested that Joel McHale would be a good host.

Joel, 52, is no stranger to the game show as he appeared on the Celebrity Edition in 2021.

“Joel McHale > Ryan Seacrest,” the original poster said.

“I don’t know if he was in the running for Pat’s replacement, but I think Joel McHale would have been a great pick.”

“Joel is a quick wit and Ryan is too robotic. I would prefer Joel over Seacrest,” another fan agreed.
