“You have to feel a little sorry for Pat Sajak because of how this is all playing out,” a source told the publication. “Instead of matching or coming close to Pat’s audience numbers, Ryan has blown them out of the water!”

“Everyone at Sony is popping champagne over the numbers and breathing a big sigh of relief that the tragedy, drama and confusion of the Jeopardy! Host transition is not repeating itself here,”  they added.

“The gamble on Ryan has worked creatively and as a business decision, and this new version of Wheel has excellent ratings.”

It was previously reported that the show has surged past Jeopardy! By over 1 million viewers.

According to The Sun, Seacrest’s premiere week as the host was met with 8,310,000 viewers from September 9 to 15.

By contrast, Jeopardy!, which is hosted by Ken Jennings, saw only 7,113,000 viewers for the same episodes.

Seacrest took over the gig for Sajak after he decided to retire. He joined Vanna White, who stayed on for at last two more years.

Wheel of Fortune airs nightly Monday-Friday.
