A Canadian man is taking home $83,000 worth of prizes after making a historic bid on game show “The Price Is Right.”
Hailing from Alberta, Patrice Masse was floored after being told that he won the double showcase prize.
The point of the popular American game show is to guess the price of random retail items, from vacuums to surf equipment. Contestants must make sure not to guess over the actual price or overbid, as the aim is to guess as close to the cost as possible or the exact cost.
The finale of the game is the Showcase, where contestants guess the combined value of items in one of two showcases. In Masse’s instance, some of the prizes included an espresso machine, a trip to Miami, and a brand new Kia K5.
Masse guessed the showcase price at $39,500. The actual price was $39,501.
He was off by a sole $1.
Masse’s eyes widened as he was told the mere difference, holding his head in disbelief.
“Oh my God!” he screamed as the audience wildly cheered.
“That was the best showcase bid in the history of the show in my opinion,” host Drew Carey said as Masse ran to hug his wife. “With absolutely no help from anybody in the audience, by the way,” Carey added.
Additionally, Masse won the contents of both showcases since his guess was within $250 of the actual amount of the showcase he was guessing for. The total amount of the prizes are worth $83,068.
The “Price Is Right” posted the incredible moment on TikTok, saying that their “jaws are still on the floor” in the caption.
“I’m speechless and shocked at the same time,” one user commented under the TikTok.
“Time to go to Vegas,” another user wrote, referring to Masse’s remarkable luck.
