Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings recently threw some shade at the game show’s rival Wheel of Fortune during a taping of the show. An insider shared the comments, as well as some insight into Jennings’ hosting duties. There is also speculation there could be more to the comments than they seem.

Fans Like To Think Of A Rivalry Between Both Game Shows

Both Jennings and Seacrest have taken on hosting duties on their respective shows. Seacrest himself debuted on Wheel of Fortune back in September, which saw a boost in ratings.

Jennings was initially brought on as a guest host on Jeopardy! after the death of host Alex Trebek. He initially split the hosting role with actress Mayim Bialik until becoming the sole host in 2023. However, before becoming a host, Jennings initially appeared on the show as a contestant.

Over the years, fans usually tease Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune as having something of a rivalry with each other. This “rivalry” was also recently acknowledged by the Jeopardy! host.

Jennings’ comments were caught by an insider on the show. The Jeopardy! host started to chat up the audience during a live taping of the show.

According to The U.S. Sun, the insider shared that, “After a recent taping, Ken asked the live audience if they enjoyed their time at the show, before asking if any of them wished they’d gone to see Wheel of Fortune instead.”

The Souce Gave Some Insight Into Ken Jennings

As the source continued, “The crowd erupted in laughter and seemed to appreciate him making fun of the rivalry and not taking it so seriously. Ken is very humble, really kind to everyone on set, and eager to answer questions from guests. It seems the role hasn’t gone to his head. There’s no ego about him at all.”

The source also shared what it was like for Jennings having been both a player and host on the show, noting he’s often asked about this. As they explained, “Audience members have also asked him which is harder; being a contestant or hosting, and he admitted taking part was much more nerve-wracking than reading out the questions.”

While Jennings’ comments were made in jest, there has been some speculation that he is receiving pressure from the higher-ups as Seacrest’s presence has been helping Wheel of Fortune in the ratings. Jeopady! notably earned more viewers than Wheel of Fortune overall last season, but this has since changed with Seacrest joining the latter show.

Seacrest might not be the only competition Jennings faces as a host, either. As previously reported, there had been speculation that the launch of Pop Culture Jeopardy! might cause a rivalry between its host Colin Jost, of Saturday Night Live fame, and Jennings.
