Wheel of Fortune contestant was caught in the middle of a lie. What did she lie about, and did it help her win?

Every now and then, it’s easy to make a mistake. That’s exactly what a contestant on Wheel of Fortune did, but she decided to play it off and lie about her mistake. The decision caused host Pat Sajak to stop the game to clarify the letter choice.

What Happened During the Wheel of Fortune Round?

Everyone knows the rules on Wheel of Fortune. Contestants get to guess letters to make a phrase easier to guess. It is possible to buy vowels to help, and there are some rounds where one vowel is offered. There are multiple rounds to the game, and it was in the bonus round where one contestant was caught lying during the Tuesday, Nov. 28 episode.

Pat Sajak had to stop the game to clarify. During the bonus round, Lindsay, a retired police detective, was given the letters S and T for her word. She picked three consonants and a vowel to add to the phrase, with S being one of those choices. Sajak paused the game to clarify the third consonant of choice. He even gave her a pass by saying “S or F.” Yet, Lindsay said that she said the letter C.

She remained tight-lipped when asked again to confirm her mistake. Poor Vanna White was confused as she waited for clarification on what to do next.

Fans took to social media in anger about Lindsay’s actions. They wanted her to admit that she made a mistake and asked for an S despite that letter being on the board already. One fan rewound the program to make sure it was an S that Lindsay asked for. After all, it could have been an F. One thing fans point out is that had Lindsay admitted to saying S, Pat would have probably allowed her to pick another letter with it already being on the board, according to The Sun. Just own up to a mistake.

Fans shared their thoughts:

“UNREAL cop behavior on Wheel of Fortune tonight.”

“She said ‘S’!!!!”

Did Lindsay Get Away with the Wheel of Fortune Lie?

One Wheel of Fortune fan commented about how the lie didn’t pay off in the end. It was instant karma for the retired cop, as none of the letters that Lindsay asked for showed up on the board. That included the C that she asked for in the end—and Pat allowed her to have.

The contestant failed to guess the phrase with just the S and T on the board already, missing out on $40,000. That certainly made fans happier considering her earlier lie. The big question is whether she would have walked away with the prize if she had guessed the phrase right, despite lying about her letters of choice.
