Fans of The Price is Right dragged host Drew Carey after his unsolicited advice seemingly cost a contestant a substantial cash prize.
The drama unfolded when CBS’s official Instagram account shared a clip from a recent episode featuring contestant Lauren, who had the chance to win $500,000 by playing Plinko.
In this game, players drop chips from the top of a board, hoping they land in slots at the bottom that yield cash amounts.
Before Lauren dropped her first chip, Drew offered his guidance: ‘One at a time, put them against the wall. Drop it, $100,000, right in the middle,’ he advised.
However, it quickly became clear that Lauren’s strategy of dropping her chip down the center of the board wasn’t effective, as her chips ended up in a $500 slot and three $1,000 slots instead.

‘What’s going on?’ Drew exclaimed, as Lauren’s last chip landed on another $500 slot, giving her a total prize of $4000.
Lauren looked thrilled with her win as Drew complimented her for perfectly dropping each chip while she joined him after the game.
However, some fans expressed their frustration in the comments, calling out the host for interfering and offering an unhelpful Plinko strategy.
‘Drew Carey really needs to stop saying RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE when Plinko is playing because he’s annoying AF,’ one fan claimed.
Another posted, ‘Hey Drew you don’t have to tell your contestants that the big money is ‘right down the middle’ every single time ffs.’
Yet another was more direct, writing, ‘Carey needs to keep his mouth shut when they’re laying the games or spinning the wheel.’
A group of fans, however, came to Drew’s defense, arguing that the comedian was merely highlighting the location of the big prize money rather than directing her.
‘He was saying the $100,000 is in the middle, not to drop the chips in the middle. If you’re annoyed by him, change the channel’ one follower posted.

Another supporter added, ‘It’s not his fault; he was just telling her where the big money is.’
The social media uproar comes after Drew revealed that The Price Is Right contestants are frequently drunk and high.
Drew made the revelation that contestants often are under the influence to prepare themselves for being on camera in a June interview with TV Insider.
The comedian explained: ‘Oh, that happens here all the time. They’ll have a gummy or I’ll smell alcohol on their breath. Not unusual.’
He went on to tell a funny story about one of the contestants who had indulged in psychedelics as they both had similar backgrounds.
He went on to share several secrets of the show including paying homage to legendary host Bob Barker by continuing to use his iconic sign-off line: ‘Help control the animal population, have your pet spayed or neutered.’
Drew added his own twist to the sign-off as he also says: ‘Take care of yourself, especially your mental health; it’s so important, and I love you!’
He explained why he made the move as he told TV Insider: ‘It’s important to me. I went through a rough couple of years, and I needed to put my mental health first.
