Wheel of Fortune fans were looking forward to seeing iconic host Pat Sajak do a victory lap on the upcoming season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune — but unfortunately, Wheel loyalists are going to have to wait just a little bit longer.

In a press release shared to TVInsider on Friday, October 11, ABC shared that they are adding six Monday Night Football simulcasts to their schedule, and thus, bumping Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

“ABC is a destination for marquee NFL programming including, as part of our new deal, Super Bowl 61 (February 2027), the first of two,” read the statement. “The decision to add more simulcast games was made in conjunction with the NFL, and is just for the 2024-25 season. This schedule leans into the cross-promotional opportunities maximizing the reach of NFL programming across the Disney ecosystem.”

Pat Sajak 2017Other shows affected by the move are Press Your Luck and ABC News’ Scamanda — all of which are now scheduled for the midseason slot.

“Furthermore, this move will give the ABC game shows Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck a more consistent, weekly run in midseason when there are less preemptions (i.e. football, 2024 election),” read the statement.

The latest season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune was set to air on Monday, October 14, and as a result of the delay, fans are devastated.

“Today is the day of what would’ve been the premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck, but sadly, we’ll have to wait until 2025,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter), with a gif of Jack Black saying “this is a nightmare.”

At the time of writing, a new air date for the season 5 premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune has not yet been announced. But upon it’s return, Ellie Kemper, Tiffany Haddish, Oscar Nuñez, Andrew Rannells, and more are slated to appear on the show.
