Pat Sajak Landed Exciting New Role Following 'Wheel Of Fortune' ExitPat Sajak may be retired from the ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ but his career in entertainment is far from being over. After 41 years as the popular game host, the 77-year-old is ready to flex his creative muscles in other ways.

Pat Sajak – Joins Stage Production of ‘Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii’ In Fantastic Role

Recently, fans tearfully said goodbye to the beloved host of the popular long-running show, ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ on June 7, but he didn’t miss a beat before signing on for a new gig.

Sajak will play a lead role in the production of ‘Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii’ Theater Center next year.

The production has been described as “theatrical predecessor” to and “inspiration” for the TV series ‘Columbo,’ which in turn spawned from the TV movie of the same name. Wait for it, we’re not done here; the movie is an adaptation of the 1962 mystery-thriller play ‘Prescription: Murder.’

The play will actually see Sajak reunite with “longtime buddy” and KHON-TV Hawaii newscaster Joe Moore. They will both appear alongside other cast members Bryce Moore (Moore’s son), Therese Olival, Amy K. Sullivan, and Aiko Chinen.

Pat Sajak Will Leave 'Wheel of Fortune' in 2024

Sajak has been cast in the role of Roy Flemming, a “brilliant psychiatrist,” who comes up with a nasty plan to murder his “neurotic and possessive wife” (Sullivan) with the help of his mistress (Olival). Per the description, the murder plot “depends on a bizarre impersonation to create a perfect alibi.”

Things take a turn when Lt. Columbo (played bt Moore) takes up the case and, in effect, engages the psychiatrist “in a cat-and-mouse battle of wits right up till the play’s surprising climax.”
Moore’s son will play the role of the assistant district attorney.

The beautiful thing is that this play will not only mark Sajak’s return to theater but will also be the ninth time he’s appeared alongside Moore in a stage play.

In a statement on his exit from ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ Sajak shared, “I’ve always said to you, you’ve heard me say this dozens of times, ‘I’d rather leave a couple years too early than a couple of years too late.’ It’s been a great 40 years, and I’m looking forward to whatever’s ahead.”
