Melissa Peterman and Reba McEntire

With several reboots taking place, some fans can’t help to wonder if the same will ever take place with Reba. It seems like the cast is very much onboard, that includes the likes of Steve Howey, who would do a reboot without hesitation given that the roles changed his career. As we’ll reveal in the following, Reba McEntire is open to the reboot, but seems to be less optimistic these days.

Reba created several connections on The CW and WB series. However, her connection with Melissa Peterman was a little more special. We’ll reveal how the two managed to stay close after all these years, and how they recently reunited for an exciting TV movie project. In addition, we’ll take a look at Reba’s connection with her other castmates, and how they feel about potentially rebooting the popular early 2000s series.

Reba lasted six seasons and 127 episodes on The WB and The CW. Fans will argue that the show could’ve lasted even longer thanks to the chemistry of Reba and Barbra alone.

Well, fans will be pleased to know that Reba and Melissa Peterman are still close behind the scenes, despite the fact that the sitcom came to an end more than 15 years ago. Not only are they close, but the two reunited for a Lifetime film in 2023, Reba McEntire’s The Hammer.

Alongside KTLA 5, Peterman revealed that their relationship is a special one, given the fact that they are in fact very different.

“I don’t think in any other world we would’ve met,” she laughed. “I met her on the show and we’ve been friends ever since.”

According the publication, Peterman needed to perfect an accent for the role, “While Nevada is the setting of the film, the “Fancy” singer’s Oklahoma accent still makes an appearance, which is something Peterman had to take on as well. McEntire made sure to help her costar perfect the dialect.”

Peterman admitted that the accent wasn’t as hard as expected, given that she tends to fall into it during conversations with Reba.

“Sometimes when I’m with her, I tend to fall into it anyway,” Peterman said.

Clearly, the two are still very close, and that would also be confirmed by Reba.

Reba cast

Speaking alongside ET,Reba McEntire discussed her new Lifetime film, along with the possibility of a Reba reboot. Although her fellow castmates are optimistic about the possibility, Reba doesn’t think that the chances are as strong today, but she refused to close the door completely.

Reba would also discuss reuniting with Peterman, and how special it was for her.

“She’s easy to break character and get me to laugh. She’s always trying to break me and she does it a lot,” McEntire said of Peterman.

Clearly, things haven’t changed between the two. Reba would also reveal how close the pair are behind the scene.

“We love to act together, we love to hang out together,” she added. “We rented a house and all of us we’re in the house together — my bunch and Melissa — and it was just the best. I had the most wonderful experience getting to shoot this movie.”

It turns out the atmosphere was a very positive one during the days of Reba on The WB and The CW. So much so, that a lot of the cast want to see the sitcom return.

A Lot Of The Former Cast Had A Blast Alongside Reba McEntire, And Are Open To A Future Reboot

Despite his hectic schedule, Steve Howey admitted he would do a Reba reboot without any hesitation, given that the role was a dream come true for the actor.

He revealed, “Yeah, I mean, I don’t even know because when I played Van on that show, I was in my early 20s. And to see where Van is now and where the family is, I mean, I would do anything. Reba says, ‘Jump,’ and I’ll say, ‘How high?’”

García Swisher shared the same sentiment, “I think it’s been more than just thought about and something that I think we would all really love to be a part of. It’s very much in our hearts and our minds and topics of conversations.”

Reba has her doubts about the likelihood, specifically because of everyone’s schedule. “So many obstacles,” McEntire told. “The TV business changes so much that sometimes reboots are hot and then they’re not. Plus getting everyone scheduled together is also hard. Steve Howie is very busy, and so is Joanna Garcia. Mellisa [Peterman] is doing wonderful and here we are making a movie together. I guess timing and schedule will dictate that in the future.”

At the very least, former cast members are open to reviving the show, but there currently are no plans.
