Inside Daniel Radcliffe’s stunning Melbourne apartment: Harry Potter star pockets $2 million after finding a buyer for his lavish Toorak bolthole
British actor Daniel Radcliffe has sold his Melbourne bolthole via his parents’ corporate entity for around $2million.
The Harry Potter star, 33, used the Toorak property as a temporary home while filming in Australia during the early 2000s, but has since found no use for it.
According to a report by Realestate.com.au, the property was quietly sold off by a corporate entity called Gilmore Jacobs, which is owned by Radcliffe’s parents Marcia Gresham and Alan Radcliffe.
Radcliffe’s parents have long made it clear that the money Gilmore Jacobs generates – from investments and Daniel’s stellar career – is for their son alone.
The Daily Mail reported in December 2019 that his company Gilmore Jacobs had reached a net worth of £80million ($147million).
Radcliffe’s mother purchased the home for for $1.9 million in 2004 when her superstar son was working in Australia.
She then transferred the title into her son’s name in 2007, not long before he turned 18.
In 2015 Radcliffe listed the property for sale with a price guide of around $3.5million, but removed it from the market just days later after deciding he wanted to continue working in Australia.
He finally sold the property to his parents’ corporate entity last year, for $2million.
The apartment, which is on the top floor of its complex, features floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious outdoor areas and an ultra-modern kitchen.
Agents wouldn’t be drawn on the sale price, but it is reported the figure lies in the ‘low $2millions’.
Radcliffe’s parents established Gilmore Jacobs back in 2000, before Harry Potter first cast his worldwide spell.
Radcliffe shot to fame in 2001 upon the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first of the Hollywood films based on J. K Rowling’s novels.
He reportedly earned $1million for the first film, which was released when he was 12.
He went on to star in all eight films in the popular franchise.
The fantasy movies also star the likes of Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton.
