When Alessandra Curcio attended a taping “Wheel of Fortune” in Southern California in 2019, she didn’t have any expectations of getting picked for the show. She made the cut, but only won $1,000.

But the Elmwood Park resident’s love for game shows would lead her to unexpected redemption.

“My husband and I were in Los Angeles earlier this month and decided to attend a taping of ‘The Price Is Right,’” Curcio, 36, said. “A few hours later, I was on stage and clean-swept the entire show.”

Curcio took home over $65,000 in cash and prizes as she competed in a variety of games and the Final Showcase Showdown.

“Funny enough, I ran off stage thinking I didn’t win,” Curcio said. “Drew Carey had to grab me and inform me that I won.”

She says the money will go toward a vacation that includes visiting Margaritaville on a cruise, a trip to the Bahamas and island hoping near the coast of New Zealand.

“I want this experience to inspire anyone who has ever had dream,” she said. “All you have to do is try and you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish.”
