Country music legend and actress Reba McEntire opened up about her 2001 song I’m a Survivor going viral more two decades later.

The 69-year-old singer appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the new season of The Voice and her new series Happy’s Place.

Host Jimmy Fallon asked her about the song – which she used as he theme song to her sitcom Reba that debuted in 2001 – going viral on TikTok three years ago.

When asked if she loves when stuff like that happens, Reba responded, ‘Heck yeah. Oh yeah.’

The song trended on TikTok back in 2021, with people using the song to showcase how they were surviving in their own lives.

Reba even took part of the trend herself, posting a July 2021 TikTok video that showed her trying to feed a pair of animals to no avail.

The video remains pinned on her page and has 4.6 million likes, 50K comments and 65K bookmarks to this day.

When asked about the video she said the animals didn’t want to be fed, joking, ‘They turned their butts to me.’

She also opened up about why that song was chosen for the theme song, and opened up about her work on both The Voice and Happy’s Place.

When asked about I’m a Survivor, she said, ‘Yeah, it was a single for me, and then when we did the Reba show, we were kind of like, “What’s the music gonna be?”

‘And so, we all thought, “Well, in the show, I’m a survivor. So, there’s the song.” Kind of made sense,’ she explained.

The song was referenced in a recent tweet where a user posted a photo of billboards for both her NBC shows – The Voice and Happy’s Place.

She said that everyone on The Voice is, ‘having an absolute blast,’ and that she hopes to retain her status as reigning champ.

When asked about her show Happy’s Place, she said, ‘the show is about a a tavern in Knoxville, Tennessee. My daddy owned it. He’s just passed away, but I’ve been running it for the last ten years since my husband passed.’

She adds, ‘And unbeknownst to me, there’s a young lady sitting at the bar that’s also gonna be in the meeting. She’s my half-sister. Yeah, daddy said in the will, “looky here. You’ve got a half-sister, and she’s going to split the bar with you.”‘

The series stars Belissa Escobedo as Isabella, the aforementioned half-sister of Reba’s character Bobbie, with Melissa Peterman as Gabby, one of her bartenders.

Happy’s Place debuted on October 18 on NBC, with new episodes airing Friday nights at 8 PM ET.
