Reba McEntire’s New Reba Replacement Sitcom After 17 Years Is Even More Perfect With OG Actor Reunion
Summary
Reba McEntire returns to comedy TV with the upcoming sitcom Happy’s Place on NBC, set to debut in fall 2024.
Melissa Peterman reunites with McEntire to star in Happy’s Place as Gabby, bringing back the duo’s comedic chemistry.
McEntire and Peterman previously worked together on Reba and various TV shows, showcasing their great rapport.
Seventeen years following the Reba series finale, Reba McEntire is making a comeback in comedy television with her upcoming sitcom, Happy’s Place, which reunites the actress with one of her former costars. Happy’s Place will debut during the 2024-2025 season on NBC, and McEntire is set to star in and executive produce the series. Other producers include Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel, and Mindy Schultheis, who all previously worked on Reba alongside McEntire. In the show, McEntire plays Bobbie, a woman who inherits her late father’s restaurant and is forced to co-manage it with the half-sister she never knew she had.
Happy’s Place will premiere in the fall of 2024, with its timeslot set as Fridays at 8 pm ET on NBC.
Happy’s Place signifies McEntire’s return to headlining sitcoms 17 years after Reba‘s series finale and her short-lived show Malibu Country, and, hopefully, this one will attain the same success as Reba and avoid Malibu Country‘s fate. The actress has played small parts in other comedy shows ever since but has yet to hold a series regular role in a sitcom. However, NBC seems to have faith in McEntire’s new show, likely because it comes from the reputable actress and will draw in viewers who loved Reba (due to its cast including two of the WB sitcom’s stars).

Melissa Peterman Played Barbara Jean In Reba
Melissa Peterman, who previously played Barbra Jean Hart in Reba, will star as Gabby, a bartender at Reba McEntire’s Bobbie’s new restaurant, in Happy’s Place on NBC. Reba ran for six seasons, the first five airing on The WB and the last on The CW following WB and UPN’s merger, and McEntire and Peterman appeared in every season together. Now, the two former Reba cast members will work together once more when they reunite to play two of the three announced main roles in the upcoming NBC comedy series Happy’s Place.
McEntire and Peterman’s comedic chemistry is undeniable, so, their reunion in Happy’s Place bodes well for the upcoming show’s success.
As fans recall, Barbra Jean was Reba’s ex-husband’s enthusiastic and naive new wife Reba. She was the exact opposite of the redhead, which made their dynamic one of the best and funniest relationships on the sitcom. Reba could barely stand to be around Barbra Jean, while Barbra Jean did everything in her power to make Reba like her. She practically idolized her husband’s ex-wife, while Reba thought Barbra Jean was one of the most annoying people she had ever met. McEntire and Peterman’s comedic chemistry is undeniable, so, their reunion in Happy’s Place bodes well for the upcoming show’s success.
Reba McEntire & Melissa Peterman Already Reunited 4 Times After Reba’s Ending (& They’ve All Been Great)
The Actresses Have Worked Together On Young Sheldon, Baby Daddy, & More TV Shows
Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman seemingly formed a great working relationship while starring in Reba since the two actresses have reunited four times following the series’ ending. McEntire guest-starred in one episode of Peterman’s Working Class in 2011. Four years later, the country singer appeared in two episodes of Baby Daddy (which featured Peterman in a series regular role). McEntire and Peterman also had recurring roles in the popular CBS show Young Sheldon, and they starred alongside one another in the Lifetime movie The Hammer. Now, the former Reba costars are back to sharing the screen again in Happy’s Place.
