Kelly Ripa reveals major ‘concerns’ about ex Live co-host Ryan Seacrest taking on Wheel of Fortune hosting gig

KELLY Ripa has revealed her thoughts about her former Live co-host Ryan Seacrest’s new gig on Wheel of Fortune.

The talk show host opened up about Ryan becoming the game show’s new host on Tuesday’s installment of the podcast Life Is Short with Justin Long.

It happened after Justin inquired about Kelly’s previous sit-downs with longtime Wheel Of Fortune co-host Vanna White, 66.

Kelly, 53, noted that the pair talked about their friend Ryan, 48, who departed from his co-hosting spot on Live in April and is taking over for Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, 76, following his retirement next year.

The TV personality then shared her concerns about Ryan taking on the new job after learning some of his flaws during his time on Live.

“Ryan Seacrest is the only person I know, besides myself…he’s a terrible speller. He doesn’t read things in a grid properly often. I’m actually concerned.”

She continued: “This is the first time I’ve ever been concerned for Ryan Seacrest where I go, ‘Is he gonna be able to understand this foundationally?'”

Kelly joked last week about the American Idol host’s poor spelling ability while interviewing him on her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera.

“It’s the great irony,” Ryan laughed on the podcast.

“I’m glad you pointed that out to me because I have been saying to people after you said that, ‘Wow, Kelly reminded me how I have gotten to be such a bad speller, and my phone has made it worse.’

“The biggest test for me will be trying to spell the puzzles correctly,” he concluded.

BIG TRANSITION

Ryan announced in June that he accepted the role on the game show in a lengthy post on Instagram.

“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak.

“I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years.”

The radio personality ended: “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”

Before sharing the news, Ryan took some much-needed time off, which he said was why he left Live after six years as co-host.

Kelly’s husband, Mark Consuelos, 52, stepped in as co-host immediately after.

RETIREMENT PLANS

Also, on Kelly’s podcast, Ryan teased his plans to retire after decades of hosting numerous TV shows.

“I think to myself, ‘Oh my gosh, yes, I could stop and do nothing. Go play with the olives and be happy every single day without any sort of duties or responsibility immediately.’ I actually think that would be fine,” the TV producer confessed.

He then noted that he wants to get a better handle on his schedule so he can work as long as possible.

“We do love what we do. I think it’s less about retirement, and it’s more about controlling our schedule so that we have the ability to do the things we want to do,” Ryan explained.
