‘Price Is Right’ Producer Revealed Unusual Protocol
The Price Is Right fans said goodbye to host Bob Barker last year, but the show continues with Drew Carey taking over his duties. It has recently been revealed the show does have behind the scenes protocols they must follow. Recently, a former producer from the show revealed one protocol that is a little surprising. It shows that behind the scenes, the administration team takes things very seriously despite all the fun everyone has on the set.
Safety Is Important On The Price Is Right
Drew Carey, the current host of the game show once had to have a contestant’s wife come on stage to help out because he had dislocated his shoulder. How did that happen? Big prizes mean lots of excitement and sometimes huge celebrations. As a contestant was yelling with joy at winning a trip to Hawaii, he discolated his shoulder. So, his wife took over for him and spun the wheel. Over the years, similar things could have happened but luckily there are protocols in place for that.
The Price Is Right Has Protocols – CBS
The Price Is Right survived for decades, and it’s still as popular as ever. The only major break that came along was in 2021. At the time, the coronavirus was rampant, so the show went on an extended hiatus. So did Let’s Make A Deal and many other game shows. When television shows were allowed back to film again, there were most likely protocols put in place to help keep everyone safe as well.

Former Producer Mike Richards Opens Up On Surprising Protocol
On March 23, People reported that they spoke with a former producer of the CBS show, Mike Richards. He held the position between 2009 and 2019. Obviously, game shows must have a lot of rules in place, and emergency procedures in case something goes wrong. However, a lot of thought went into one protocol that he mentioned to the outlet. The protocols were created especially to help contestants who have an accident after getting very excited. What are they talking about?
The experienced production crew member claimed that he never saw it enforced, but it related to overexcited people who might lose control of their bladder. He explained:
I never saw it happen, but there were curtains and a blow dryer and [a] pair of sweats just in case, since we’d have to get on with the show.
The Price Is Right experienced some disasters, which shows that while nobody accidentally wet their pants from excitement, things sometimes went wrong behind the scenes. One memorable one involved an expensive car and a mostly empty studio audience. Mike Richards elaborated on how only “15 people” arrived for the audience. However, seating accommodated “280” people. So, he dashed outside into the street and yelled at people to come in and “get a prize.”
Car Prizes On CBS Game Show
Meanwhile, a “Porsche” which was meant to be a giveaway as the “deal of the day,” encountered “a forklift” that put its forks “through the back” of the expensive vehicle.
