Pat Sajak revealed that he was retiring in June 2023. He shared that he would do one more season of Wheel of Fortune and then pass the torch. Some assumed that it would be passed over to Vanna White who has been by his side for forty years but that did not happen. Then, there were some questions if she would retire right alongside him. Pat’s daughter, Maggie Sajak had made quite the impression on the audience as the social media commentator. Therefore, she was the perfect choice to replace Vanna once Ryan Seacrest was named as Pat’s replacement.

However, Vanna ended up signing an amazing contract to take her through 2026. That meant she would be there for Pat’s farewell season and then begin Ryan’s run with him. It was a sense of comfort for the viewers who were unsure if Ryan was the right choice to fill Pat’s shoes. Yet, so much has changed with Vanna’s job, which she does know. She no longer has to physically turn letters but rather it is all automated for her. Therefore, Vanna has shared that she is not needed on Wheel of Fortune so why does she bother to stick around?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Vanna White confessed that fans just like seeing her outfits and what she wears every day. She started by acknowledging how her job on the show has drastically shifted: 

“And my role on the puzzle board has changed. When I first started, I had to physically turn every letter. Then they switched to TV monitors, so I just had to touch the letters and they would light up.”

She then noted how much technically has advanced:

“Now the board is operated by a laser. It’s like a flat screen. And when I go to touch the letter, the laser catches my movement. It’s crazy, right?”

“But people love watching what I’m wearing. I’ve worn over 8,000 outfits. So I think the audience likes to see if I’m wearing red today, or blue. Is it going to be elegant or short? My wardrobe is a big part of it.”

Though Vanna White is a great foil for whoever is hosting Wheel of Fortune, viewers do love seeing her neverending glam looks. She asked them which was their favorite from premiere week and they were filled with praise:

All eyes on Vanna! Stunning in all of them. I had to go back and really look at Ryan too—I like the red and the blue dates…but honestly, hard to pick a fav!! All of the outfits were great!
Love the yellow! You look gorgeous in all of them. Ryan is always razor sharp! I love you two together! Loving the wheel again!

So maybe Vanna is right that viewers love the show but would be lost without her amazing style five nights a week. She did share she can borrow some for events so that is a major perk and a fine reason to stay.
