Blake Shelton isn’t coming back for The Voice season 24, and it looks like fans have some thoughts about the new coach taking over his iconic red chair.

Reba on The Dream Role She Didn't Land

In a photo added on The Voice’s official Instagram, the show’s social team revealed some key details in regards to the upcoming installment. Posting an image with host Carson Daly and coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and John Legend, fans learned that the competition series received an official premiere date for the fall 2023-2024 TV season. Viewers can start watching season 24 episodes starting on Monday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

“Get in besties, we’re going to blinds. 🚗 🎶,” read the caption on July 20. “#TheVoice returns with @reba, @johnlegend, @gwenstefani, and @niallhoran September 25th 8/7c on @nbc and streaming on @peacock.”

When fans saw the first major clue about the new season online, they were thrilled to see Gwen, John and Niall return for another turn as coaches. But some were upset about Blake no longer being present, and voiced their opinions about the Reba actress replacing him.

“Not going to be the same without @blakeshelton [and] @kellyclarkson 😞,” one person wrote on Instagram, also referencing season 23 alum Kelly Clarkson. “This looks like a great group but I will still be missing Blake,” another agreed. “Will never be the same without Blake. I’m done watching,” a different follower declared.

Despite the concerns about the “Fancy” singer switching places with the Barmageddon star, others felt differently about Reba joining the series. “Just remember it’s not about the [coaches], it’s about the voices,” someone else noted in the comments.

While it’ll be hard to not see Blake this September, it may comfort people to know that Reba joining The Voice season 24 isn’t the first time she has appeared on the show. The “Does He Love You” songstress originally came on as Blake’s Battle rounds advisor in season 1, coming back to mentor the final 12 contestants during season 8. She also appeared on season 23 to give the competitors musical wisdom as a Mega Mentor for the Knockout rounds.

Although it’s a sad goodbye, at least we know that Blake’s legacy of a country music coach will be in good hands. After all, is there anything a legendary artist like Reba can’t do?
