The Voice viewers think new coach ‘stole the show’ – while other first-timer ‘didnt make an impact’

THE VOICE US viewers have had their say on the new judging panel – and praised one coach for “stealing the show”.

A new season of the singing competition kicked off last night with two new faces – legendary rapper Snoop Dogg and Canadian singer Michael Bublé.

They joined returning veterans Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire for the 26th series of the NBC show.

It comes after John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay stepped down after the last season in May.

On last night’s episode, Snoop Dogg secured his first pick and was also selected by singer Jake Tankersley in the Blind Auditions.

Snoop, 52, celebrated the moment by giving him an Death Row iced out chain.

Many viewers were delighted with the new addition and praised Snoop for bringing some comedy and charm to the show.

One wrote: “Really did not think I could possibly love Snoop more, and yet here we are. He’s PERFECT for this show.”

A second fan said: “I love seeing Snoop on The Voice. He’s a great addition to the show.”

A third commented: “It’s been 8 mins and snoop already made this the best season”

“One hour in, and this is the best episode ever. Snoop should coach every season,” a fourth shared.

While some viewers thought Home singer Michael had more to give but lacked “impact”.

One wrote: “I really enjoy Snoop! I liked Michael okay. I think he‘ll settle in. Overall, I like this group.”

This person echoed: “Michael is ok, didn’t leave too much impact for me but I like him.”

“I initially liked Michael, but when he started speaking in other languages, and badly at that, it just made him look desperate and cringe,” this viewer said

Another added: “Nobody seems to know why Michael is there – including Michael. Snoop is great.”

But not all fans agreed and one said: “I think they both did a great job, and are excellent additions to the show.”

“Snoop is a totally breath of fresh air tbh, and Bublé too, maybe this season a country artist won’t win (I can only dream lol),” this person wrote.

In a recent interview with Today, Michael revealed he was asked by NBC bosses to join the show around 16 times.

He said he turned down the role because he didn’t want the pressure to judge upcoming talent.

He said: “But thank God we’re not judges. The other shows have judges — we are coaches.

“And the reason I say that is because most of the singers are better than me, and I have no place ever judging anyone.

“So, to get to coach them and live the fantasy of having this career that I’ve had and then get to have the fulfillment of helping someone else get that? That’s the cool part.”

While Snoop previously spoke about joining the series while on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

He told the host back in May: “So this is a great opportunity for me to show that I really understand music, and to be a real Coach, and to really give direction to some of these Artists that could be, you know, today’s next big thing.”
