The new season of AGT kicks off on Tuesday, May 28.

Terry, 55, sat down with Great Day Hollywood to talk about the judges, the contestants, and the changes they will have this season.

After saying that the current judges are the “dream team,” he opened up about how the Golden Buzzers will be different this season.

The judges – Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell – along with Terry, all get a Golden Buzzer.

This sends an act that they deem worthy enough to go straight to the live shows without having to go through the rest of the auditions.

Typically, the judges and host each get one, and some seasons, they do a group Golden Buzzer.

But, for Season 19, there will be nine total Golden Buzzers.

The judges will each have two while Terry has one.

GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY

Terry explained why they upped the number of them.

“What would happen would be the judges would see all this tremendous talent and they would end up apologizing,” he said.

America’s Got Talent adds major twist ahead of show’s return with new season – and Simon Cowell says it’s a ‘good sign’
“They’re like, ‘Man, if I had another one, I would hit it.'”

“We said, ‘Give them another one!'” Terry shouted.

“And what we found is that there was not one Golden Buzzer wasted because there’s so many deserving talents out there.”

“It’s so incredible. I think that the show needed more and now we finally got it and I think everyone is going to be happy,” Terry ended.

The host also teased that this season will have the youngest ever contestant at 2 years old.

Fans can watch the new season on Tuesday on NBC at 8/7 c and the next day on Peacock.

DOUBLE THE TALENT

This new twist was first announced in March.

Simon, 64, opened up about the change when he and his fellow judges were filming the current season.

“In the first two days we’ve used more Golden Buzzers than we’ve ever used – that’s got to be a good sign!” he told People.

What we found is that there was not one Golden Buzzer wasted because there’s so many deserving talents out there.
