Fans worry as Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings is ‘desperately clinging’ to his job

Jeopardy! fans were worried that the host of the beloved game show, Ken Jennings, might be getting the axe after seeing rumors about it online

Fans of Jeopardy! have grown to love its new host – and they don’t want to see him gone.

Recently, rumors have been swirling that Ken Jennings might be axed from the beloved game show. Ken took over hosting duties with Mayim Bialik after the death of long-running host Alex Trebek in 2020.

Mayim was fired as a co-host after she supported the Writer’s Guild strike last year, making Ken the only host since then. But rumors of him leaving were fueled after Colin Jost was chosen to host the upcoming Pop Culture Jeopardy! on Amazon Prime.

Fans became worried that because Ken wasn’t chosen to host the spin-off, he would get the boot off of the main show. One concerned fan took to Reddit, penning a post that read: “So just to put my mind at ease…Ken isn’t ‘desperately clinging’ to his job right?”

Another Reddit user had advice for the original poster. “Step one: Ignore twitter,” they wrote, “You’ll realize the world isn’t as terrible as all that.”

A second added: “If you’re talking about the twitter nonsense, pay it no mind.”

Other users took to the comments to praise Ken’s hosting skills. “Ken is nailing it. Much better than Alex, may he rest in peace,” someone said.

“Ken is very present and in the moment and truly understands the game and his reactions and comments are timely and appropriate and often funny,” the user continued, “Being a former champion and a fan of the show, plus a good personality and charisma makes him the perfect host.”

One user pointed out that this wasn’t the first time a spin-off Jeopardy! show aired with another person hosting it. “Was Alex Trebek ‘desperately clinging’ to his job when Jeff Probst hosted Rock & Roll Jeopardy!?,” they said, “Was he when Dan Patrick hosted Sports Jeopardy!? No. He wasn’t.”

Another commenter added that they went to a taping of the newest Jeopardy! spin-off hosted by the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update host. “I went to a taping of Pop Culture Jeopardy with Colin Jost hosting and he was pretty good and threw in some jokes, but not as good as Ken at the material [in my opinion,]” they said.
