‘The Voice’ Star Blake Shelton Posts Cryptic Instagram After On-Air Fight With Kelly Clarkson

Ariana Grande and John Legend had to leave the stage because of Blake and Kelly’s bickering.

We’re only a week into The Voice season 21 and already Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton can’t stop fighting.

During week one of the new season’s pre-recorded blind auditions, both coaches took turns poking fun at each other in hopes of winning over contestants to their teams. But at times, their bickering was constant — so constant, in fact, we saw fellow coaches Ariana Grande and John Legend temporarily left The Voice stage on Tuesday while Kelly and Blake duked it out over country singer Lana Scott (ICYW, she wound up choosing Team Blake).

Hinting to Voice fans that they would soon see his and Kelly’s feud over Lana air, Blake posted a cryptic Instagram ahead of last Tuesday’s episode featuring himself and Kelly on the set of The Voice. “What are @kellyclarkson and I talking about? Wrong answers only.”

Of course, after fans saw what went down between the two they had no problem delivering some epic replies. “She’s challenging you to a tractor race,” one fan quipped. “How much you adore each other 😂,” another answered. “How much she loves and respects you,” a different fan joked.

From what we can tell, Blake and Kelly are just getting started. In a behind-the-scenes outtakes clip the show posted this past weekend, fans can see that Blake and Kelly’s fighting extended well beyond what folks saw last week. In fact, during one outtake where they discussed their seating arrangement, Kelly tells Blake that she asked producers to be seated “the furthest” away from him. Then at the end of the outtakes clip, we see Blake and Kelly once again teasing each other, with Kelly betting Blake $500 that he doesn’t know her middle name (he didn’t know it).

In case it wasn’t crystal clear before, Kelly and Blake are totally kidding around and are actually good buddies in real life. Similar to how Adam Levine used to fight with Blake on the show, Kelly has seemingly replaced the Maroon 5 singer’s role as the country singer’s primary on-air “frenemy.” That said, Ariana has also been taking a few playful shots at Blake on social media. Only time will tell if Ariana and Blake begin feuding more and more as the season progresses.
