Pat Sajak wins Emmy for his last season hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’
Pat Sajak now has a new trophy as a memento of his final season of “Wheel of Fortune.”
Sajak won an Emmy for outstanding host for a game show for his final season as the show’s host.
The award was presented during Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys ceremony but Sajak was not there to accept his award, according to a CNN report.
Other nominees in the category included Steve Harvey for “Celebrity Family Feud,” Ken Jennings for “Jeopardy!,” Kike Palmer for “Password” and Jane Lynch for “Weakest Link.”
This is Sajak’s first Primetime Emmy since the outstanding host for a game show category was moved from the Daytime Emmys to Primetime in 2023.
Sajak has previously won three Daytime Emmys as the host of “Wheel of Fortune,” one in 1993, 1997 and one in 1998. He was also honored with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
Sajak retired in June after 41 seasons as the host of “Wheel of Fortune.” Having made his debut in 1981, Sajak hosted more than 8,000 episodes of the show.
He, along with his co-host Vanna White, became household names over the 40 years they hosted the show.
During season 41’s final episode, Sajak gave his farewell messages and thanked viewers for the “incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes, night after night, year after year, decade after decade.”
Ryan Seacrest is set to succeed Sajak as the host. White will stay on as his co-host through the 2025-2026 season, according to an Associated Press report.
