Ken Jennings has been the sole host of Jeopardy! since 2023, but the former champion has reportedly not been given a long-term contract, leading to fears he could be replaced at any time

Jennings has been at the helm of the show since 2021, initially stepping in as a guest host following the sad passing of Alex Trebek, before taking up the mantle permanently. Since then, he’s brought a sense of fun to the role, engaging in friendly banter and cracking jokes about contestants when they’re left scratching their heads over an answer.

Viewers have warmed to him as the new host, with some even pleading for him to try his luck on another reality show. However, recent reports suggest that his position isn’t as secure as it seems.

It has been revealed that Ken doesn’t have a long-term contract in his current position and is reportedly worried about being shown the door at any moment. Jennings has made his intentions clear to the top brass: he wants to be in it for the long haul, just like Trebek was, because he believes he’s got what it takes and he’ll do everything in his power to keep his job.

An insider recently told The Sun: “What he really wants more than anything is to stick around and make this position work for the long run,” and added: “And if that means making less money to ensure his longevity, you can bet your life he’d be game.”

The source claimed that his job isn’t all about the money – it’s a way of life for Ken. They said: “Despite his eagerness to remain the host for many years to come, his lack of a long-term contract leaves him feeling uneasy. He still has no long-term Trebek-style contract, and the president of Sony TV can replace him at any time, on a whim.”
