Carrie Underwood took home her 14th and 15th American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 24).
The superstar nabbed the trophy for Country Album of the Year for her latest album, Cry Pretty, as well as the AMA for Best Female Country Artist.
Actress Cobie Smulders surprised Underwood with the trophy for Best Female Country Artist when she took the stage to accept the Country Album of the Year honor.
“So it’s a good surprise,” Underwood joked before getting into her speech after being told about her second AMA win of the night. The Oklahoma native dazzled in her sparkly purple gown during her acceptance speech.
“Thank you so much,” she gushed before tearing up in her emotion-filled speech. “Thank you God for the talents you give to people and the gifts you give people and not just what you give to the people who are up to tonight but for every single person. We all have gifts and hopefully we use them to make the world a better chance.”
Underwood went on to thank her husband, Mike Fisher, and her boys Jacob and Isaiah adding in, “Mommy loves you.”
“It”s been such a wonderful year,” Underwood added as more tears started to flow. “Thank you to the fans, you guys support each and every one of of us… I want to thank the AMAs for making this award show fan-voted because they’re the ones that matter and the ones that count.”
Her latest AMA wins have her tied with Reba McEntire as the most-awarded female country artists in American Music Awards history, and ranking her among the top 10 all-time winners in all categories, across all genres.
