Justin Timberlake looks dejected as he has driver’s license suspended in DWI case
Justin Timberlake appeared virtually in court on August 2, where a judge suspended his driving license in the state of New York following his DWI arrest
Justin Timberlake officially plead not guilty while appearing in court virtually
Justin Timberlake was somber as he entered a not guilty plea to an updated misdemeanor charge.
During a virtual court session on Friday, Aug 2, the 43-year-old faced the music as his driving privileges in New York were revoked by the judge.
Dressed in a plain black shirt, Timberlake’s appearance was notably subdued.
The What Goes Around…Comes Around singer found himself in hot water following a night out at The American Hotel, where he admitted to having “one martini.”
Despite claims of sobriety from the ex-boy band sensation, his attorney’s initial motion to dismiss was ultimately pulled back.
Timberlake’s legal troubles began with his arrest on Tuesday, June 18, after he was accused of ignoring a stop sign, reckless driving, and veering from his lane.
Although he refused a breathalyzer test three times, he did participate in field sobriety tests, which, according to the officer, he failed to execute satisfactorily.
Despite facing a DWI accusation, Timberlake and his legal team have strongly refuted the charges, expressing their determination to “vigorously defending” him in the courtroom.
ABC reports that authorities deduced the Tennessee native was driving under the influence after noting his bloodshot, glassy eyes and “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath during a traffic stop. Timberlake apparently also had slurred speech and trouble standing steady during field sobriety tests.
An insider told The New York Post about a moment post-arrest when a handcuffed Timberlake muttered to the arresting officer: “This is going to ruin the tour.”
Confused, the officer asked which tour he referred to, leading Timberlake to explain: “The world tour.”
Despite the legal hiccup, Timberlake continued with his scheduled performances, even playfully referencing the arrest at a show in Boston’s TD Garden, where he humorously asked the crowd: “Is there anyone here that is driving? No, I’m just kidding.”
Timberlake has a court date set for Aug. 9.
Although he appeared via video link at the Friday session, further appearances may necessitate his physical presence in the courtroom.
