Conan O’Brien’s Audience Gasped After Annabelle Wallis Revealed How She Got Rejected By Tom Cruise In Front Of 900 People

Tom Cruise may have shared many on screen kisses in the past, but he made it clear that wouldn’t be happening with Annabelle Wallis.

Tom Cruise is a legendary actor who has become a household name. He has shared the screen with a number of famous actresses over the years, some of whom Cruise himself has been involved with.

Cruise met his first wife, Mimi Rogers, while working on a film. Their marriage ended in divorce, but it wouldn’t be long before Cruise shared the screen with his second wife, Nicole Kidman.

So, when Annabelle Wallis shared the screen with Cruise in The Mummy, she had high expectations for her upcoming experience with the actor. However, Cruise let her know very quickly that their planned kissing scene wouldn’t be happening. The incident would embarrass Wallis, but thankfully she can laugh about it now.

Tom Cruise Rejected The Idea Of Doing A Kissing Scene With Annabelle Wallis In ‘The Mummy’

During an interview on Conan, Wallis discussed her time working with Cruise on the film The Mummy.

In the original script, there was a planned kissing scene between Wallis and Cruise’s characters. Wallis said that she was very excited about getting to kiss Cruise on camera.

“It was a very sad day for Annabelle,” Wallis began. “Again, there was another amorous moment, a little kissing scene. And I got to set and was like, ‘This is an amazing moment.’ I would tell all my friends, my children, about this kissing scene with Tom Cruise.”

However, she would soon learn that the actor wasn’t exactly sharing her excitement. In fact, what followed was quite embarrassing for Wallis.

During her marriage to Tom Cruise, Mimi Rogers was annoyed with one particular way the media would report on them.

“And I arrive on set and I’m like, ‘C’mon Tom, it’s about to be the best day of your life,'” she continued. “And then he goes, ‘Yeah about that. Alex, can we have a chat? I’m not feeling that. I’m not feeling the kissing scene.’ And he talked himself out of kissing me in front of 900 people. Can you imagine what I felt like? Not good.”

According to Cruise, he first met Mimi Rogers in 1985 when he was developing the original Top Gun. Cruise told Rolling Stone in a 1986 interview that he met Rogers “at a dinner party about a year ago.” Cruise also revealed that Rogers “was dating a friend” at the time they first met.

“I thought she was extremely bright,” Cruise said.

However, Rogers has said that she wasn’t dating anybody at the time. She told Sun Sentinel that she and Cruise were introduced through mutual friends.

“I wasn’t seeing anybody, he wasn’t seeing anybody, and they thought, ‘These people should be going out with somebody — let’s see if they want to go out with each other,'” Rogers said. “And we said, ‘Aw, what the heck. OK.'”

The couple were married two years later, on May 9, 1987. The two referred to their marriage as “The Project” and Rogers, a second-generation Scientologist, is believed to have been Cruise’s introduction to the religion.

Years later, Cruise was rumored to be in talks with the Church of Scientology regarding his search for a wife following his divorce from both Rogers and Nicole Kidman.

Several famous actresses were rumored to have been considered for the lofty role. However, the church seemed to get the answers to their prayers when they came across an article in Seventeen.

In a 2004 interview, Katie Holmes said, “I used to think that I was going to marry Tom Cruise.” At the time, she was engaged to actor Chris Klein.

It was a mere six months after that article came out that Klein and Holmes announced their split. Just one month after that announcement, Holmes and Cruise made their red carpet debut as a couple in Rome.

Katie Holmes might’ve predicted her relationship with Tom Cruise sooner than expected.

Many find the timing of the former couple’s courtship to be highly suspicious.

People reported that Emilio Estevez was Cruise’s best man at his “very small, intimate and beautiful” wedding to Rogers. Nearly one year before tying the knot, however, Cruise told Rolling Stone, “I don’t know if I could get married.”

Rogers spoke fondly of married life at the time.

“There’s a lot of contentment and security (in marriage),” she told the Chicago Tribune in 1988. “I highly recommend it.”

According to an unauthorized biography on Cruise by author Andrew Morton, the actor filed for divorce from Rogers on December 9, 1989. Just two days later, Cruise began production on Days of Thunder with his future wife Nicole Kidman. Cruise would later tell Vanity Fair in 1995 that meeting Kidman for the first time was “instant lust.”

In 1990, Cruise and Rogers made an official statement regarding the end of their marriage.

“While there have been positive aspects to our marriage, there were some issues which could not be resolved even after working on them for a period of time,” they said.

Despite this, Cruise told Rolling Stone that he “couldn’t imagine being without” Rogers just days before news of their split broke.

“Since I’ve been with her, it’s opened me up a lot,” Cruise said. “I think it’s helped me be a better actor. We live a lot of life together. We share everything. That’s the best thing about life. Otherwise, you go through it pretty sad and lonely and angry.”

Katie Holmes recently shared her process for remembering lines, which is very different from that of her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.

He added, “I care about my wife more than anything in the world. She’s my best friend. I just really like being with her, you know? I love her.”

The couple finalized their divorce in February 1990. Cruise and Kidman were reportedly married that December. Cruise later told Barbara Walters in 1992 that he had not spoken to Rogers “in a couple of years” and that he did “wish her well.”
