Wheel of Fortune viewers fume Ryan Seacrest hosted show is too ‘over the top’

Ever since Ryan took over the beloved Pat Sajak’s role as Wheel of Fortune host following Pat’s retirement, longtime viewers have had many complaints surrounding the revamped series

Wheel of Fortune fans aren’t very receptive to the game show’s new host Ryan Seacrest, or the new energy that the TV personality has brought to the series.

Ever since Ryan took over the beloved Pat Sajak’s role as Wheel of Fortune host following Pat’s retirement, longtime viewers have had many complaints. Not only are Wheel of Fortune fans taking issue with the program’s new set design, but they’re also annoyed with Ryan’s hosting style.

Many shaded Ryan in a thread on Reddit, pointing out specifically the reasons why they didn’t like him a part of Wheel of Fortune.

“Does anyone besides me feel like the entire new WoF is just over the top? From the set, to the contestants outfits, and even the contestants behavior,” one Redditor asked. “Especially the male contestant tonight. To me, it’s almost like they are actors. It feels unnaturally “extra.” There were some in the forum who also didn’t feel that Ryan was the right person to succeed Pat or that the new show set-up was better.

Wheel of Fortune fans haven’t been very receptive of Ryan or the show’s new set up

“Yes for sure. I was afraid this would happen after Pat retired. Wheel of Fortune is following the trend of overproduction and fake emotion,” a critic explained. “Tonight episode especially, you feel dizzy and overwhelmed from all the cuts and noises from contestants. You can barely follow the puzzle.

They added: “Maybe the ratings don’t support this, but I’ve always preferred authentic emotions. You don’t want snoozefest contestants, but authenticity is nice.”

A second person agreed: “I was gonna post the same thing. Yes. Definitely. Very odd, unnatural. reminds me of what happened to the Price is Right. It seems like there is even a Laugh Track or fake applause going on too. Not really liking it. Also, when people call a letter, Ryan Seacrest instantaneously knows how many are there. I mean right away instantly. It feels so unnatural.”

A third noted: “I wanted to love it but the contestants do feel like actors and after 2 nights of it, I’m done. And I was a huge Wheel fan.”

Although weren’t in to Ryan as host, there were some who believed that he’s doing well as a Wheel of Fortune host, albeit he’s no Pat.

“I’m okay with Ryan, he’s no Pat but I think he’s doing a pretty good job and will probably get better as time goes on,” someone admitted. “But the set, the contestants, the more in-your-face sponsorships (LG and Kombucha) the dumb split screens for the toss ups, the glare on the wheel… I hate all of that.”
