Drew Carey Faked Being gαy on His Show

While it’s publicly known that Carey has dated women, he once faked being gαy on-screen. Though he has never addressed rumors about his sexuality, some fans were convinced Carey is a member of the LGBTQ community after he faked having a male lover in one of his show’s episodes.

In “The Drew Carey Show” episode plot titled Man’s Best Same Sex Companion, the 64-year-old needs medical treatment, but the operation costs a fortune. The only way for him to pay using his company’s insurance is if he has to prove he is gαy, so Carey hires a man to pretend to be his lover.

Drew Carey Dated Women Only Amid gαy Rumors

Even though there have been talks about Drew Carey being gαy, that’s far from the truth—he is straight and has only dated women. His first known relationship was with Nicole Jaracz, and the pair dated for years.

According to reports, the two met in the mid-2000s and planned to marry after Carey popped the question in 2007. However, the marriage never materialized as the pair went their separate ways in 2012. Carey’s next public relationship was with Amie Harwick.

Based on reports, the duo met at a party in 2017. Carey said he saw stars all over the room that night when he saw Harwick, who was working her second job as a bartender.

They briefly talked and went to Disneyland on their first date. The pair began dating, and Carey proposed after a few months. However, their relationship was short-lived when the lovebirds broke up.

Drew Carey Was Left with Immense Grief after Death of Ex-Fiancée

In February 2020, Carey’s ex, Harwick, died after she was thrown off a third-floor balcony. An autopsy report released indicated she suffered strangulation first. Her death devasted Carey.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Carey said he felt like a widower because they had plans to marry each other and didn’t get to walk down the aisle because they had a terrible breakup.

He recalled receiving a text from Harwick a day before Valentine’s day, and she wanted them to meet and talk. But their meet-up never materialized as Drew Carey’s ex-girlfriend was found dead before they had a chance to reconcile. Carrey said that despite their breakup, he and Harwick still cared about each other and that she held him in a special place in her heart.
